Clause 55

sets out what the court may do or require of the parties in preparation for the summary hearing. This includes, amongst other things, requiring the parties to provide an estimate of the time needed for the hearing, the estimated number and availability of witnesses (other than the accused), requesting that the parties indicate the evidence they propose to adduce and the issues in dispute and establishing whether the accused is legally represented. This clause requires the accused to attend all contest mention hearings. However, the court can excuse an accused from attendance under clause 330.
