Clause 148

provides that if a corporate accused does not appear at its committal proceeding and is committed for trial, the DPP or informant (as applicable) must serve a notice on the accused in accordance with clause 341 within 14 days after the committal. The notice must set out certain details including the fact that the accused has been committed for trial, when the accused's trial is listed to commence and when the accused must appear and that if the accused does not appear, the court may hear and determine the charge in the absence of the accused. An accused may appear by a representative or a legal practitioner. The ability of a corporate accused to nominate a representative is provided for in clause 334.
