Clause 180

enables the accused to be arraigned at a directions hearing if an indictment has been filed. The process of arraignment is described in clause 215. A truncated arraignment process is available if the accused pleads not guilty to one or more charges in the indictment and indicates an intention to plead not guilty to any of the remaining charges. In those circumstances the accused can be taken to have pleaded not guilty to those remaining charges.
