18D Adjournment of sentencing
If a court is considering imposing an indefinite sentence on an offender, whether on its own initiative or because of a notice filed under section 18C(1)(a), it must on the day of the conviction or within 5 working days after that day explain, or cause to be explained, to the offender in language likely to be readily understood by him or her—and adjourn sentencing until at least 25 working days after the day of the conviction.
